NZPPA Awards – Acknowledging Our Payroll Hero’s

Overview

Payroll professionals manage one of most important business critical activities, being the payment of wages to employees on time and correctly. This activity also accounts for one of the largest costs a business has, being labour cost.

To do this the payroll professional has to know all of the current legislation that applies to the work they do, the agreed terms and conditions of employment they pay employees under and how to use their payroll system and processes around it.

They do this within defined timeframes, usually isolated without other parts of business understanding what they actually do and with little help and support. BUT every pay they work hard to ensure all staff are paid, questions are answered, reports are completed and paperwork filed.

Payroll Profressionals are the true back office hero’s!

Why have awards for Payroll?

The purpose of the NZPPA Awards is for highlighting the exceptional work payroll professionals do for their business and for the payroll industry in general.

Many payroll professionals never get any recognition for the additional work and effort they do on top of the work they do in payroll.

NZPPA wants businesses and the wider payroll industry to recognise this work so we can all be proud of the work payroll professionals do.

The NZPPA Awards is an annual event and covers three distinct groups within the payroll industry:

Payroll Practitioner of the Year*
Payroll Team of the Year*
Payroll Supplier of the Year**

The Payroll Practitioner of the Year award is for an exceptional performer that has gone above and beyond in their role as a payroll professional to assist their business, or employees they pay or even in developing the payroll industry.

The Payroll Team of the Year award is for a combined payroll team that together has exceptionally performed for their business, achieving a business outcome (productivity, cost savings, project etc.). This has been achieved as a team.

The Payroll Supplier of the Year award is to highlight a payroll supplier that has provided exceptional service to a business, helped and assisted a payroll practitioner in their work to achieve an essential outcome or has provided payroll tools and functionality that aids payroll in regard to compliance, cost effectiveness or best practice.

NZPPA award are presented every year as part of the NZPPA Annual Conference.

*Only NZPPA members can be nominated and be awarded this award.

**Any payroll supplier can be nominated but payroll suppliers that are NZPPA members cannot nominate their own business.

The aim of the NZPPA awards is to celebrate the exceptional work payroll individuals, teams and payroll suppliers do within the New Zealand Payroll Industry.

There are three awards:

NZPPA Payroll Practitioner of the Year
NZPPA Payroll Team of the Year
NZPPA Payroll Supplier of the Year

Winners will receive:

NZPPA Payroll Team of the Year

A framed award and trophy

NZPPA Payroll Supplier of the Year

A framed award and trophy

Ability to use the award recognition in advertising for the next year

How to enter

NZPPA Awards are only open to NZPPA members.

*Except for the Payroll Supplier of the Year award that is open to any payroll supplier but voted for by NZPPA members.

Payroll Practitioner and Payroll Team Awards

To apply for Payroll Practitioner and Payroll Team of the year awards applicants must provide the following:

Clearly state what award you are applying for (payroll practitioner or payroll team)
State in detail three reasons how exceptional work in payroll has been achieved, how it impacted on payroll, the business or employees.
Have the immediate manager of the payroll practitioner or team to endorse the award application.
Provide a photo of the individual or team.

Payroll Supplier of the Year Award

Voting for the payroll supplier of the year award can be made by any current NZPPA member.

*Payroll suppliers and their staff that are NZPPA members cannot vote for this award

To vote you must provide the following:

The name of the payroll supplier you are voting for
State in detail why this payroll supplier should be nominated based on any of the following: exceptional service to a business, helped and assisted a payroll practitioner in their work to achieve an essential outcome or has provided payroll tools and functionality that aids payroll in regard to compliance, cost effectiveness or functionality.

A NZPPA judging committee will assess all applications made.

Awards Opening & When Awarded

Applications for any of the awards will be accepted from the 10 October 2014 through to the 31 October 2014.

This year awards will be presented to the successful applicants on the 7 November 2014 at the NZPPA 7th Annual Conference and Payroll Expo, being held in Auckland. If the winner is not present they will be contacted after the event with the news.
