ZPPA has have been getting a lot of feedback from senior payroll practitioners that they would like to see NZPPA provide a special event to meet their needs as leaders in payroll.
NZPPA are the innovators and leaders in developing opportunities for the payroll profession in New Zealand. We want to continue this proud tradition with this new event.
The “Payroll Leaders’ Summit has the aim to:
1. Provide a specific forum for payroll leadership to learn new skills they can apply to their workplace.
2. Create networking opportunities among their peers in the payroll industry.
3. Help upcoming payroll leaders to move into senior positions either within their own organisation or as part of their career in the payroll industry.
The summit will be an annual event but each year it will rotate to another city. In 2014 it will be held in Auckland, and from 2015 will rotate to other areas around New Zealand.
The focus of this one day event is to have speakers from the payroll industry with proven creditability talk to their peers, passing on insights and knowledge to be shared within the payroll profession.
This event will suit:
- Existing payroll managers and team leaders
- Upcoming or new payroll managers and team leaders
- Managers of payroll staff that want to get a better understanding of how to effectively lead payroll staff.
What the Payroll Leaders’ Summit will cover?
From NZPPA’s experience the payroll industry is very fragmented with little development of payroll staff or their managers.
We have canvassed our members and have a good understanding what the target group for this conference wants to be included.
We will be very selective of speakers for this event and all sessions will be from a payroll perspective making it essential information for any payroll leader.
We will be focusing on the following topics (subject to change) that will make this one day event a full programme for attendees.
-
Who suits being a payroll practitioner (recruitment)?
-
How to start a new payroll practitioner off on the right start (induction/on boarding).
-
Focusing on performance (payroll staff).
-
Professional development for payroll practitioners.
-
Leading your team (challenges/delegation/succession planning).
-
Effective communication within the payroll team and wider organisation.
-
Dealing with staff issues/performance.
-
Developing a payroll business plan.
-
Creating effective payroll processes.
-
Assessing and measuring payroll effectiveness.
Draft conference programme will be up and available from the 18 March 2014. Details will be included in our ePayroll Newsletter and on this page.
